Alexander Maxim is the wealthy and enigmatic founder of the Amazing Challengers of Uknown Mystery. His creation of an "adventuring club" suspiciously coincided with the escape of his estranged father (in a giant robotic suit) from his nursing home.

Maxim possesses no known powers, but keeps a number of man-animal hybrids in his employ, including a centaur, bird-man, mer-man, and several war-apes.
