Professor Jamais is a history professor at the University of Waterloo, and is also widely recognized as Canada's greatest living biographer. He has written series of thrilling "you-are-there" biographies of Canadian historical figures. But his fans and critics are unaware that his uncanny ability for recreating the past comes from his conversations with dead people from the various eras he illustrates in his books.

Jamais serves as something of a field leader for the Amazing Challengers. He has a wife and two children who are entirely oblivious to his supernatural powers.
